What to expect during a business disruption:

The Federal Reserve System has taken steps to ensure that the Discount Window will remain available during a business disruption. Each Reserve Bank has a toll-free number for calls to the Discount Window. If a Reserve Bank's Discount Window operation is disrupted, its toll-free number will be rerouted to staff at a contingency site or another Reserve Bank who will be prepared to respond to Discount Window inquiries, handle collateral pledges and withdrawals, answer questions about your account and meet your needs for temporary liquidity.

What you should do during a business disruption:

Review your account balances. Account holders may track account activity through the Federal Reserve's Account Management Information System (AMI) or through the Account Balance Monitoring System (ABMS). If ABMS and AMI are unavailable, you may contact your local Discount Window department staff using the toll free number or you may contact them directly.

If you need a Discount Window loan, contact your local Discount Window department, using the toll-free number. If your local Reserve Bank's Discount Window operation is disrupted, its toll-free number will be rerouted to staff at a contingency site or another Reserve Bank. If your call does not go through immediately, please continue to try to contact your local Discount Window using the toll-free number until your call is answered. If you are still unable to connect with your local Reserve Bank, you may call another Reserve Bank for assistance.

Preparing for a business disruption:
